Here in the United States we can access clean drinking water anywhere, anytime. In the dorm bathroom. Your family's kitchen. The bar down the street. No matter where you are, pipes deliver safe drinking water right to our fingertips.
Our access to clean water is an unimaginable luxury for one billion people on the planet.
In developing nations like Uganda and Malawi, the only option some have is to walk for miles and wait hours in line in order to fill a jug with brown polluted water. Water laden with cow feces and urine they'll carry home to their family for cooking, drinking, bathing.
This water is all they have. And its not just leaving them thirsty. It's killing them.
42,000 people die each week from unsafe water. 90% of those deaths are children under 5 years old, which means 450 kids will die today, tomorrow, and the next day.
The good news is the resources exist to help. Freshwater wells can be dug that provide sanitary water. One well gives clean water to a community for 20 years.
Project Goodwell was created in order to help fund the digging of these wells. It's a team effort and we need your help. By purchasing our Project Goodwell merchandise and then simply carrying on with your life as a part of society, you will help spread awareness of the global need for clean and safe water. Meanwhile, we will donate 100% of the proceeds from your purchase to a clean water initiative that provides drinking water to developing nations.
It's fashion forward meets forward thinking. Give the gift of clean water. And look good doing it.
Thanks to you, since 2003 University Tees has built a strong presence on college campuses across the country.
In 2009, we decided it was time for University Tees to reach out to yet another audience: those less fortunate and in need. Thus, The Giving Tee was born. The Giving Tee has the singular mission to provide aid and assistance to others.
Project Goodwell is our first effort.
All Project Goodwell tees are printed on American Apparel organic cotton which requires less water and creates less hazardous waste during the manufacturing process than chemically treated shirts. Every little bit counts.
And as always, free shipping.
100% of the proceeds from your Project Goodwell purchase go to charity:water, a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Charity:water partners with local organizations in the area to build and rehabilitate freshwater wells. Once a well is built, each community forms a water committee. These committees are educated about the importance of hand washing and proper sanitation and are responsible for ensuring that the well stays clean and maintained. Charity:water helps provide wells and water, and does so in an empowering and self-sustaining way. Find out more details about their work at charitywater.org.
